Our Wikipedia, marking methods: CO2 laser engraving (surface)

    CO2 laser engraving (surface)

Surface laser engraving is a method of marking flat surfaces using a CO2 laser. The engraving tool is a laser beam directed perpendicular to the surface being marked.

The element being engraved must be perfectly flat and none of its elements can protrude beyond its plane. Otherwise, there is a risk of incorrectly executed engraving quality (the distance of the laser head from the material surface affects the intensity of the engraving).

Surface engraving works perfectly for materials such as acrylic, metal, wood, and leather. It can also be done on glass, but its quality is significantly inferior to laser engraving inside the glass. With a CO2 laser, we can also cut the surfaces of many materials, excluding glass.
