    Our wikipedia, marking methods: fusing

    Fusing - fused glass

The glass fusing technology is used to achieve decorative effects. The two basic effects are rounding and smoothing the edges and obtaining an interesting texture of the glass surface.

The glass for fusing can be prepared by any cutting method that allows us to obtain the desired shape. The edges do not need to be additionally processed. After cutting, the flat glass sheet is placed in a special kiln and heated to a very high temperature. The temperature and time of heating depend mainly on the thickness of the glass and the degree of rounding we want to achieve.

After melting the glass, we can apply any markings and decorations on it as with other materials, with the exception of internal engraving.

    1. Rounding edges

Fusing elements are characterized by rounded edges. They are very delicate and smooth, with no sharp edge between the edge surface and the front surface. Glass with fusing edges creates an interesting spatial effect, especially when multiple layers of such glass are used in a figurine. When using vibrant colors, the glass can even have a candy-like effect.

    1. The texture of the glass surface

With the use of a properly prepared substrate in the kiln, we can achieve interesting visual effects on the back surface of the glass.
